Background

I was trained as an Industrial Design Engineer (MSc Delft University of Technology) and Designer Researcher (PhD 2008 Delft University of Technology). From 2008-2012 I worked as a Research Consultant at Telematica Instituut/Novay where I started a research line on technology for behaviour change in health. In 2012 I started as a (tenure track) Assistant Professor at the University of Twente with the assignment to continue and expand the research line I started. Since 2023 I am a full professor of Interaction Design and member of the daily management team of the department of Design, Production and Management as the representative for research. I am active in the Dutch design research community, 4TU.Design United and since 2025 I am member of the discipline council of CLICKNL. Roles in the organization and review process of international conferences also allow me to work with colleagues internationally and to contribute to the quality of research in my discipline. I acted, for example, as an AC for the ACM Designing Interactive Systems (DIS) conference and for the Design track of the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI).
