DRS 2026
The International Conference of the Design Research Society will take pace June 8-12 in Edinburgh. IxD colleagues will present 4 papers and a poster. Looking forward to meet the community again!

On February 6 2026 Tamara Pinos Cisneros successfully defended her thesis on ‘Designing playful smart toys to support home-based hand therapy for children with cerebral palsy’. Her thesis shows that there is is a future for adaptive play complexity and for a family of therapy-monsters. More about her work here and the thesis can be downloaded here.
Keynote at Human Factors NL Conference
On November 28 2025 I gave a keynote at the Human Factors NL Conference.The basis for the keynote was my inaugural lecture where I elaborated on what expertise on interaction design can contribute to solving societal challenges in health and care. I illustrated this with examples of the work done by researchers and students in the IxD lab that contribute at different levels – micro, meso and macro – of our healthcare system.
